Care Guide

Your Flanelia bathrobe is crafted from premium Turkish cotton — a naturally robust and luxurious fiber. With the right care, it will remain beautifully soft, absorbent, and pristine for years to come. Follow the guidelines below to protect your investment.

First Wash

We recommend washing your Flanelia bathrobe before its first use. This removes any residual finishing agents from production and begins the softening process inherent to Turkish cotton. Do not add fabric softener at this stage — it is not needed and may coat the fibers.

Washing

Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle or delicate cycle. Use a mild, color-safe liquid detergent and avoid powder detergents, which can leave residue in the fibers. Wash dark and light colors separately for the first few washes.

  • Temperature: 30°C maximum
  • Cycle: gentle / delicate
  • Detergent: mild liquid, no bleach
  • Fabric softener: avoid — it reduces absorbency over time

Drying

We recommend air drying as the preferred method to preserve the integrity of the fibers and the shape of the garment. If you choose to use a tumble dryer, use a cold or no-heat setting only — heat can cause shrinkage and weaken the fabric over time. Remove the bathrobe promptly when the cycle ends and give it a gentle shake to restore its texture.

Air dry by hanging the bathrobe on a sturdy hanger away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Allow ample space for airflow.

  • Air dry: preferred — on a hanger, away from direct sun ✓
  • Tumble dry: not recommended — if used, cold / no-heat setting only
  • Do not wring or twist the fabric

Ironing & Steaming

Turkish cotton bathrobes generally do not require ironing. If you prefer a crisper look, iron on a medium heat setting while the fabric is still slightly damp. A handheld steamer is also an excellent option for releasing any wrinkles without direct contact with the fabric.

  • Iron: medium heat, slightly damp ✓
  • Steaming: recommended ✓
  • Do not iron decorative trimmings or embroidered areas

Storage

Store your bathrobe in a clean, dry place with good airflow. Avoid storing it in a damp environment such as directly behind a bathroom door for extended periods, as moisture can affect the fibers over time. Fold loosely or hang on a hook or hanger.

What to Avoid

  • Bleach and optical brighteners — they weaken fibers and cause discoloration
  • High-temperature washing (above 30°C) — may cause shrinkage
  • Tumble drying on heat — damages fibers and causes shrinkage
  • Fabric softeners — coat the fibers and reduce absorbency
  • Wringing — distorts the shape and stresses the weave
  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight — causes fading

A Note on Turkish Cotton

One of the remarkable qualities of Turkish cotton is that it softens and becomes more absorbent with each wash. Do not be discouraged if your bathrobe feels slightly stiff on first use — this is completely normal. Within a few washes, it will reach its full, plush potential and continue to improve over time.
